Men of a Certain Age - NOT the tv programme! Apr. 11th, 2010 @ 07:56 am

David Strathairn will be on House this week. Now ... I don't really like House. When I find it on the telly, I quickly surf away because when I don't, I end up watching it all the way to the end. It's that addictive, even though I find Gregory House abrasive, obnoxious, without any redeeming characteristics, unlikeable, intolerable ... etc, etc, etc.

But David Strathairn will be on it this week.

David Strathairn was the actor who portrayed Arthur Spiderwick. He was the director in the Bourne Ultimatum. He was the blind guy in Sneakers who drove the van in order to help his pals out.

I wanted to confirm that it had indeed been he whom I'd seen in the commercial the other night and whilst on IMDB, I noticed that there was a "whole episode" on his page. I clicked on it - Miami Vice - Where the Buses Don't Run. So I started to watch it ... and it was painful. I didn't watch it when it was on the air - and I'm glad to see evidence of my good taste in eschewing it back then. But I wanted to watch David Strathairn. Until he finally got air time.

It was not the David Strathairn I wanted to see. Far and away too young, not enough gravitas. What with everything else, I just couldn't take. He wasn't the man I wanted to see, I guess. Not yet.

Speaking of men in their seventies, here's another one. I've always thought Dustin Hoffman was as cute as all get-out.

Well as somebody has removed the dustcovers in here, I thought I'd better carry on!

Hello? Jan. 21st, 2008 @ 07:40 am
Not sure how I got bumped from the group or whether I accidentally deleted it during a community purge, but wow, nobody looking good these days? No? Well, check this out:

This is a joint first post from myself and precious_rosie , :¬) (also x-posted to vintage_meat, in case anyone gets this twice. :¬})

Some of you may know the name, some of you may recognise the face - but this is probably the very first time that this particular actor has been featured in a dedicated picspam! ;¬)

And so, beneath the LJ cut (and some big pics, so dial-up users beware, and we apologise in advance) we present for you a man of similar vintage to Alan Rickman in years, having celebrated his 61st birthday in mid-July!, and one who we think is pretty damn hot. *blushes*

We saw PoC: At World's End today, and I was reminded of how much I adore Geoffrey Rush. You reach a point in life where someone might not have the most classically good looks in the universe, but damnit, talent is dead sexy. This happens to be a darn good picture, too.

As far as I'm concerned Geoffrey Rush's performance was the only thing that made the film worth seeing.

I recorded MOBILE a while back and have only just got around to watching it. Michael is one of my favourite MOACA and I know some of you like him just as much. So I thought i'd post a few screen caps from the drama. I have to say in my opinion Michael far out shone the rest of the cast.

There are masses of new Rickman pix around this past weekend, so I thought we'd try and get a bit of interest in m_o_a_c_a again.

He's got no right looking that good at 61, has he?

Follow the stubble.......Collapse )
» Mobile on ITV

My main moaca will be appearing in a new mini-series on ITV starting on Monday, March 19, at 9.00pm. Michael Kitchen, that is, of course. His character's story will be told in episode 3 (probably April 2.) Keith Allen (Bodies, Robin Hood) also qualifies as a moaca. He's definitely improved with age!
